1B: Sept 9/6

1. Reading:

In the Daniel Shiffman, Learning Processing please read chapters 1 and 2. If you’re book has not arrived yet, here is a soft copy of these chapters.

2. Copy the Master:

  • Choose a Mondrian painting and reinterpret it in code. There are two examples below.
    • It may be useful to use the reference section of the Processing site to look up some of the functions we covered in class.
    • You may choose to do this in the Processing editor or using OpenProcessing. Either is fine. To submit the exercise, post or copy your code to openProcessing and put in in the Mondrian section! Please label your sketch with your name.  Firstname_Mondrian (if you are confused we will go over how to submit in class)

  • For help with color, note that in the Processing editor there is a color code look up tool located in the tools menu. This will help you to translate your desired colors into the RGB color codes. See the screenshots below.

3. Coded Portrait:

Using shapes, lines, points and curves, take your paper portrait and reinterpret it in code. You may need to simplify and change it significantly. If you want to use curves, see these curve equation sketches or this tutorial on curves for more assistance. Post your code to Open Processing. Use the post Portrait 1.
