  • Fill out this introduction survey and FERPA waiver.
  • Download the Processing IDE to your computer.
  • Set up a calendar and put important NYU dates in it.
  • Sign up to Open Processing here. (the code for our class is 7048D1) Sign up to slack.
  • Read: A Modern Prometheus by Casey Reas and Ben Fry and then find an example of a computational artwork that is of interest to you. (Ideally one made with p5js, openframeworks, processing or maxmsp) See the list of artists in the resources section of this site or check out the exhibition sections on some of the websites for these software tools. Post a description of the work and an image of your chosen artwork to this site.
  • Order the textbooks and a paper notebook to use throughout this class this term.
  • Spend at least 30 mins drawing a portrait on paper. It might take several attempts. This portrait could be of you, a friend, the dog etc. It does not have to prioritize realism over style. Here are some for inspiration:
